High Side Driver are a Melbourne, Australia based alternative rock band, formed in early 2010.
Their sound is dark and powerful, and yet highly accessible, emotive and infectious at the same time, with soaring melodic lead vocals backed up by catchy riffs, inventive basslines and slamming drum beats. All underpinned by a sense of dynamics, variation and light and shade.
High Side Driver released their debut single and video, ‘Dark Won’t Lie’ in late 2011 and it was recognised as a finalist in the 2012 ‘Musicoz’ Awards. It was followed up with a second single, ‘See You Next Tuesday’, in August of 2012.
April 2013 saw the band release its debut, self titled EP, which features the aforementioned second single. Its release was celebrated at a sold out launch at Melbourne’s Ding Dong Lounge, alongside fellow alternative rock act Engine (formerly Engine Three Seven). The band have also played on a number of Melbourne rock festivals such as Rock the Bay and Rock ‘n’ Load alongside the likes of Dallas Frasca, Gay Paris, Electric Mary, sleepmakeswaves and Bellusira.
The EP and the band’s riveting live show should see High Side Driver cement its place as a burgeoning force on the Australian rock scene.
